You know the craze for all things canvas has certainly gone too far when you come across a lovely large satin tote bag, and turn over the ticket to see the price of $1390 staring back at you.

I looked at my planner to make sure it wasn't April 1st, looked at the bag to see if maybe there was a leather lining (there isn't, but I would actually be able to appreciate something like that) or anything else to warrant the price tag aside from the teeny tiny, yet elegant gold charm with the Lanvin Ls (what is up with double letter logos anyway? Gucci, Chanel, Tory Burch, Lanvin...I'm sure there are more).
Yes, it is softly elegant, and the fabric is exquisite, but almost $1400 for a bag that might serve dual purpose as a laundry bag (for millionaires natch) is almost laughable.
Then again, there are people who have that sort of money and love to spend it regardless of how nonsensical. If you happen to be one, you can get the Lanvin Papilotte Satin Shopper for $1390 from Barney's...it comes in 3 colors, maybe even get one of each!
